School Board to elect chair, vice chair July 5 at special meeting

A special organizational meeting of the Poquoson City School Board will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 5 in the council chambers, 500 City Hall Ave., Poquoson.

Items on the agenda include the election of a chair and vice chair, the designation of a delegate and an alternate delegate to the upcoming Virginia School Boards Association's annual convention and the designation of representatives to the following boards or committees: WHRO board of directors, the New Horizons board of directors, the Poquoson Education Foundation and the Special Education Advisory Committee.

Other agenda items include discussion to allow the following actions: appointing a clerk and deputy clerk, establishing regular school board meetings, authorizing signatures when the division superintendent is not present, approving the 2012-13 Code of Student Conduct and Student Handbook, approving new reading instructional items and approving the acceptance and spending of funds.
