Poquoson native welcomes incoming Virginia Tech freshmen as orientation leader
Poquoson resident Alex Garrison was an orientation leader for Virginia Tech's incoming freshman class during new student orientation during the summer.
According to a press release, orientation leaders assist new students and their families in acclimating to the college experience at Virginia Tech.
Garrison, a senior majoring in psychology in the college of science, helped facilitate group discussions among new students. Discussions included tips about campus living and advice on how to achieve academic success.
Orientation leaders also worked with orientation assistants in assisting with program planning and implementation. Both leaders and assistants worked together to ensure that new students would be fully prepared for their first day of classes on campus.
