Poquoson athletes in action: Women's basketball

Kelly Halverson, a graduate of Poquoson High School, is a senior guard for the Christopher Newport University women's basketball team.

About Halverson: Halverson is a 2009 graduate of Poquoson High School, where she was a two-time first-team all-Bay Rivers District Selection playing for coach Jeff Gross. She was first-team all-district as a junior (2006-07) and senior (2007-08), while garnering second-team accolades as a sophomore (2005-06) and honorable mention status as a freshman (2004-05). Halverson was a 1,000-point scorer for her career. She was a member of the National Honor Society, FBLA and FCA. Born Feb. 12, 1991 the daughter of Matt and Cindy Halverson, she is majoring in communications. She is from Poquoson.
