Poquoson grad Halverson scores 13 points in Christopher Newport victory
Poquoson High School graduate Kelly Halverson scored 13 points in Christopher Newport's 75-54 home win over conference rival Meredith College on Jan. 27, according to Christopher Newport's website.
The senior also recorded one rebound, one assist and two steals for the Captains, who improved to 16-2 on the season and 9-2 in the USA South Athletic Conference.
Christopher Newport's next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 on the road against LaGrange College.
Halverson is a 2009 graduate of Poquoson High School, where she was a two-time first-team all-Bay Rivers District Selection playing for coach Jeff Gross. She was first-team all-district as a junior and senior while garnering second-team accolades as a sophomore and honorable mention status as a freshman. Halverson was a 1,000-point scorer for her career. She was a member of the National Honor Society, FBLA and FCA. She is majoring in communications and is from Poquoson.
