County task force to hold driving program at Tabb High School
The York County 3-D Task Force will hold its Driving Drunk and Distracted Program from 8-11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26 and from 8-9 a.m. Thursday, March 28 at Tabb High School in Yorktown.
"Beginning on Tuesday at 8-11 a.m., we will be pulling selected students from their classroom and reading their obituaries to each class as a representation of how often someone is killed in a driving under the influence-related car accident," according to a task force press release. "Then at 12:35 p.m., we will play a 911 audio recording of an accident over the school’s PA system and the entire student body will be requested to convene in the student parking lot next to the high school. Immediately following, we will begin acting out the traumatic accident scene with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office deputies and York County Department of Fire and Life Safety responding and working the scene. This is an excellent opportunity to video tape the actual response of emergency personnel."
The program will feature the landing of a Life Evac helicopter at the scene.
The high school is at 4431 Big Bethel Road, Yorktown.
